| The Highland Confederacy--Bill of Expectations | Wed Apr 30, 2008 7:18 pm by Deoiridh | The Highland Confederacy - Bill of Expectations
The Highland Confederacy has the following expectations of its officers and members. The society understands that special circumstances can pertain from time to time. However, consistent failure to meet a significant number of the expectations is inevitably grounds for asking if this is the right society for that member.
(1) Common Fellowship
(a) Each member should view the society as their home-away-from-home. Each member should be positive and supportive of other members. Each member should ““Ask not what your society can do for you, but what you can do for your society.” Officers should consider it their duty to foster this fellowship at all times, and to set a good example.
(2) United Upon the Sea
(a) Frequent Teaming:
Members should feel it their duty to team with one another when circumstances allow. This means joining others when teams are announced, and forming your own team if none with openings exist.
(b) Forming a Team: ...

| The Highland Confederacy - Articles of Confederation | Wed Apr 30, 2008 7:03 pm by Deoiridh | The Highland Confederacy - Articles of Confederation
Article I
PRINCIPLES
The Highland Confederation is founded upon the following principles, to which all members subscribe:
(1) Common Fellowship:
There shall be good fellowship among all leaders and members.
(2) United upon the Sea:
Society members sail together and aid each other upon the high seas, but no member is forced to sail with any other specific member. We strive to be chivalrous in victory and gracious in our (rare) defeats.
(3) Shipbuilding Economy:
The society shall seek to make ships reasonably available to members at reasonable prices. Society shipbuilders shall use their own best judgment in how to accomplish this, including terms, prices, and delivery times.
(4) Coordinated Military Strategy:
The society leadership shall provide strategic military guidance to its members. All such guidance shall be recommendations, not requirements.
(5) Spirit of the Age:
Society members shal...

Hew will have a responsibility for coordinating RP events both in-game and on the boards so please send him any ideas that you have for RP activities for the society.

| Membership | Wed Apr 16, 2008 5:54 am by NamoLarkin | In all the confusion and hustle to get moved to our new home the normal membership discussions have been delayed a bit but once Deoiridh gets time from her RL comitments we will have them.
There are 2 recruits that we felt shouldn't have to wait due to thier involvement in the RP events, Group activities and Port Battles. Both are involved in combat preperation and we officers felt as such they need access to the Council of War. Congratulations to both

| Promotion, Fame, Wealth | Fri Mar 21, 2008 9:18 pm by Deoiridh | Well, a promotion at least.
The Confederacy welcomes our newest officer, Von Klein. We have all seen the sterling work that she has put in on the drafts of our new society documents. She is also, as many of you know, an outstanding RPer, and the constant back and forth between the two sisters, Gudrun and Lisette, has been vastly entertaining to say the least.
In fact, that is the real reason she is being promoted. The Confederacy doesn't have a lot of money, and this way we get two extra officers for the price of one.
On a more serious note, the addition of von Klein also extends our officer coverage in terms of time zones. She typically plays late in the Pacific Time Zone, and we've been trying to ensure that we have officers in-game at a variety of times to be able to respond to questions from all of you and from prospective recruits.

| The New Forum Categories | Thu Mar 13, 2008 7:28 pm by Deoiridh | Hi everyone
I've completed the first pass through to revamp the forum categories; it's a lot different than it was, so I wanted to explain what I was trying to accomplish and then get your impressions.
I'm a firm believer in both the power of first impressions, and that how you organize and present information speaks volumes about goals, atmosphere, etc. So what I was trying to do with the new forum categories was achieve a couple of things.
1) Simplify the forums and adopt a more coherent organization. We had added a lot of forum categories with the best of intentions, but the result had been that it was often difficult for new members to find relevant information. There was also a lot of duplication of effort, with issues being discussed in several different locations. Prospective recruits and guests will not notice much different in this respect, but the members area has been pared down to only four categories. The purpose of all these changes is to ensure that our discussions are more focused and that we can respond more effectively to ...
